HelpSSL CertificatesRenew & Reissue

Renew & Reissue

  • What is the difference between SSL renew and SSL reissue?

An SSL renewal will not typically require you to generate a new CSR. Choose the renewal option if you want to renew your certificate and no other details have changed.A reissue can be done if you've lost your private key, or your server details have changed. A reissue will not extend the validity period of your certificate.

  • How do I renew my SSL certificate?

You can easily renew your Alpha SSL certificate right in your Dynadot account. To do so, please follow these instructions: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My SSL" from the left-side menu bar. Check the box next to the SSL certificate you'd like to renew. If your SSL certificate does not have a check box, then it is not yet eligible for renewal. SSL certificates can only be renewed within 90 days of expiration. Click on the "Renew" button. Your SSL renewal will be added to the shopping cart at the top right corner. To check out, click on the shopping cart and then click on the "Checkout" button. Follow the check out process to submit your SSL renewal order. Once your SSL certificate has been successfully renewed, you will receive an "Order Finished" email from us. Then, you will need to reinstall your SSL certificate. Why isn't my SSL order processing?

  • How do I get my SSL certificate reissued?

If you have purchased an SSL certificate from us and need to have it reissued, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My SSL" from the left-side menu bar. Find the SSL you want reissued and click on the "Reissue" link. Enter your newly generated CSR in the "New CSR" box. You will receive an email once the SSL provider has reissued the certificate to your account. How do I install or reinstall my Alpha SSL certificate?

  • Why am I unable to renew my RapidSSL certificate?

We no longer partner with Rapid SSL. Your existing Rapid SSL certificate will continue to work until it expires, but our system will not allow you to submit a renewal for it.We do support Alpha SSL certificates. If you still need an SSL, you can purchase a new Alpha SSL certificate. We support both regular and wildcard SSL certificates from Alpha SSL. Alpha SSL offers customers 99% browser recognition, better security with a chained root certificate, fast issuance, and it meets NIST recommendations!
