  • Which Validation Method Should I Choose For My SSL Certificate?

Dynadot is an official reseller of Alpha SSL certificates and offers both regular and wildcard SSL to help secure your website. Before you certificate can be issued, it will need to be validated using one of the two methods below. Approver Email: In this method Alpha SSL will send an email to an address @YourDomain. There will be some options for you to choose from, but you may need to create this address, or at least a forward to it. This will be your best option if your domain is live with email service set up. DNS Verification: You can also verify ownership of your domain by adding a TXT record to it. The TXT record value will be provided to you when you order. You can do this in our system, or with your hosting provider if you are using outside name servers.

  • Why isn't my SSL order processing?

The most likely reason your SSL order is still processing and has not been completed is lack of verification. All SSL orders require verification. If you chose Email Validation a verification email will be sent out to an email address associated with your domain name, most likely [email protected] some cases, this email may not exist, which would explain why you didn't receive this email. We can resend the SSL verification email for you, but there is only a limited list of emails that it can be sent to: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] If none of these emails exist for your domain, we recommend setting one up and then having us resend the verification email to you. If your domain is with Dynadot, you can follow these steps to set up email forwarding for free.If you chose TXT Validation you will find the TXT value in the "SSL Order Status" section of your Dynadot account. Once you have added the TXT record, give it a little time to propagate, then go back to your "SSL Order Status" section and request verification. If the correct TXT record is found, your SSL order will be validated. Your certificate will then be issued in about an hour.

  • How do I generate a CSR?

The steps for generating a CSR for your Alpha SSL certificate will vary based on your web server. The best place to start is by visiting AlphaSSL's website and selecting your web server from the provided list.Once you have your CSR, you just need to choose whether you want a regular or wildcard SSL certificate on our SSL page, then enter your CSR, and check out. • Can I purchase my SSL certificate for more than 1 year?

Purchasing an SSL certificate for more than 1 year is no longer possible. Due to changes in Apple, Mozilla and Google Root Store Policies, as of September 1, 2020, newly issued SSL/TLS certificates with a validity period greater than 13 months (397 days) are prohibited by policy and will not be trusted. Therefore, Dynadot is no longer selling certificates with a duration greater than 1 year. This is all in an effort for security. The shorter the lifespan for SSL certificates, the quicker any new security updates can be made.
