- What is a premium domain?
A premium domain is a domain that has been previously registered, often because it has the potential of becoming a memorable web address. Premium domains have high marketing potential and many of them already receive significant traffic. Premium domains are also often referred to as aftermarket domains, secondary market domains, high-value domains, great domains, or top domains. When you buy a premium domain, it is placed into your Dynadot account, usually in 10-20 days. There is also another type of premium domain known as a "registry premium domains." These are premium domains that are set aside by the central registry and sold at a premium (higher) price. The majority of the new TLDs we launch have premium domain lists. Please note that premium prices are subject to change per the registry. This applies to registration, renewal, and transfer pricing.

- What are registry premium domains?
Registry premium domains are a select list of domain names that are sold at a premium price set by the central registry. The central registries for these domains charge a premium registration price due to the estimated higher value of the domain name. The premium price is often applied to the registration, renewal, and transfer price of the domain name. Sometimes the renewal price will be less, but usually it is still more than standard pricing for that TLD. We offer a list of available premium .TV domains on our website. All of our premium .TV domains renew and transfer at the same price as regular .TV domains (they do not have a premium renewal and transfer rate). You can get more info about the premium pricing of some of our registries below: Donuts Minds + Machines Rightside NOTE: Premium prices are subject to change per the registry. This applies to registration, renewal, and transfer pricing. Some registries also set aside reserved domain names that are not available for registration.
- What is the Afternic DLS Premium and the SedoMLS Premium checkbox on the advanced search page?
When you search for a domain using our advanced domain search, you can opt to also search for premium domains from Afternic and Sedo, our domain aftermarket partners, by checking off the "Afternic DLS Premium" and/or the "SedoMLS Premium" check boxes. You can also opt to not pull in aftermarket premium domains by unchecking the boxes.
- Do your domain sales ever apply to premium domains?
No, our domain sales do not apply to premium domains unless the sale is marked as a "premium domain sale" specifically. Unlike our monthly domain sales, premium domain sales are much more rare. You can find our monthly sale information in the "Sales & Coupons" section of our articles. It is also sent out via our monthly newsletter on or around the first of each month. To find more exact information about a domain sale, such as when it ends, whether it applies to only the 1st year, whether it applies to only registrations, and whether it's a flat rate for all pricing levels, you can visit the TLD's page and scroll down to the "Sale Information" section.
- Can premium .TV domains be transferred?
Yes, you can transfer your premium .TV to any Registrar which supports premium .TV domains. Please note that not all premium .TV domains renew at standard price. Some now renew, and transfer, at the premium rate.
- What is a premium .TV domain name?
A Premium .TV domain is a .TV domain that is designated as "premium" by the Central Registry, Verisign. These domains were reserved by Verisign, so any registration attempts for these domains were originally blocked. Verisign has since opened up these valuable domains for registration, but at a higher initial registration price than normal .TV domains. Initial registration prices vary depending on the premium .TV domain name and in some cases also apply to renewals and transfers. Renewals The renewal price for many premium .TV domains will be the same as any normal .TV domain. However, the renewal fee for certain premium .TV domains will be higher. The Central Registry decides which. If a domain is registered for multiple years in the initial registration, the additional years will cost the same as the first year premium price. Transfers Premium .TV domains can be transferred. If you want to transfer away from Dynadot, check the .TV transfer price with the receiving registrar. If you are transferring in to Dynadot, you will see the cost reflected in your shopping cart. Grace Deletions The grace period for all premium .TV domain names will be the same as regular .TV domains. Please note that premium prices are subject to change per the Registry. This applies to registration, renewal, and transfer pricing. Premium .TV domain names are NOT the same as premium domains. "Premium domains" are domains that are currently registered while premium .TV domains are .TV domains that were held back from registration by the central registry. This is also known as "registry premium domains."
- Is the renewal cost of a premium .TV domain higher?
In some cases, yes. The renewal price for many Premium .TV domains will be the same as any normal .TV domain. However, the renewal fee for certain premium .TV domains will be higher. The Central Registry decides which. NOTE: Premium prices are subject to change per the Registry. This applies to registration, renewal, and transfer pricing.
- What is a reserved domain name?
Reserved domain names are domain names that the central registry has held back from general registration. This means that they are not available to register. The reason for this can vary. In some cases, certain domains may be held back due to potential "name collisions." Often, registries will decide to not release one and two character domain names. And sometimes registries will hold back certain domain names they consider valuable. For example, the .ME registry has held back certain premium domain names that you can only register by application. Please note that sometimes registries decide to release previously reserved domain names. Generally when this is done, the reserved domain names are considered premium by the registry and sold at a higher price.
- What are premium Donuts domains?
Premium Donuts domains are considered registry premium domains. This means they are a select list of domain names that are sold at a premium price by the registry. Donuts, the central registry for these domains, charges a premium registration price due to the estimated higher value of the domain name. The premium price will be applied to the registration, renewal, and transfer price of the domain name. Premium domains are often memorable and can be a great investment. Some examples of premium domains are 1, 2, and 3 character domains as well as one word domains. You can see if a domain is a Donuts domain by going to that domain's page and checking the "Registry" section of the "Domain Information" table (click on the domain from our TLD list). You can also see a list of our Donuts domains on our blog post about their Early Access General Availability period (you will need to scroll down). Please note that domains purchased during Donuts' Early Access General Availability period have regular renewal and transfer pricing despite having higher registration pricing during that period unless the domain you purchase during the Early Access period is a premium domain. Please note that premium prices are subject to change per the registry. This applies to registration, renewal, and transfer pricing.
