New Auto-Lock Feature For Domains Added
2/24/2009 15:37
We added a new auto-lock feature which automatically locks down domains that have been left unlocked for over 15 days.  This was added as a security measure to help prevent domains from being taken without the domain owner's permission.  When a domain is locked, it cannot be transferred to another domain registrar or moved to another Dynadot account.

This auto-lock feature is only active if you set your "Default Transfer Lock" setting to lock domains by default.  Please note that most Dynadot accounts will have their default transfer lock setting turned on.

If you're not sure what the current "Default Transfer Lock" setting is for your account, you can check it by following the steps listed here:

How do I set my Default Transfer Lock setting?

By default, our system puts a lock on all domains for security. If you want to transfer your domain out, you have to unlock it first. However, you can choose to set your default transfer lock setting to "No" if you prefer.

To set your default transfer lock setting, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Dynadot account.
  2. Select "Domain Defaults" from the "My Domains" drop-down menu.
  3. Click on the "Transfer Lock" button.
  4. Here you can use the toggle behind "Lock domains by default" to set your default transfer lock.
  5. Don't forget to "Save" your changes at the top right of the page.
Note: Domains already in your account will not be affected by the "Default Transfer Lock" setting.
