  • What is a Last Chance Auction?

Dynadot's Last Chance Auction is a 7-day relist auction for domain names that have previously auctioned off at Dynadot, but did not successfully change hands due to various reasons, such as fraud or abuse. This might be your last chance to capture great domain names that have received bids in the past. Due to the nature of these names, please note that domains purchased from Last Chance Auctions will not be renewed, and will retain their original expiry date. If you want to bid on a Last Chance Auction domain: Auctions last for 7 days, and you can bid anytime during that period. If a bid is received in the last 5 minutes of an auction, the end time will be extended by 5 minutes. There is no limit to the number of times an auction may be extended before the auction's final "end time" is set. You may place a proxy bid for higher than the current minimum bid. If someone else places a bid, the system will automatically bid for you until your max proxy bid amount is reached. If you are the highest bidder when the auction ends, you have 3 calendar days to pay for the auction. Once you pay, the domain is moved into your Dynadot account. To bid on an auction, first create a Dynadot account if you do not have one. We require at least $5 account spending before you can participate in our Last Chance Auctions. You can prepay $5 into your account and use the account credit to pay for your first won auction, or any other purchase with us. Domains won in our Last Chance Auction will be placed in an "Auction Lock" status for about 15 days.

  • Why am I banned from your expired auctions and backorders?

You should have noticed that when you bid on an expired auction and/or place a backorder request, you had to check a box agreeing to pay. When you do not pay for your domain, you are banned from both our expired auctions and our backorders. Expired AuctionsIn the past, some users have failed to pay for their expired auction orders. This is detrimental to our auction system since it not only inflates the price of the domain bought, but it also means the domain will probably be deleted.Expired auction winners will be given 48 hours to pay. If payment is not received and there were additional bidders, the second highest bidder will have 24 hours to pay. BackordersIt takes resources to catch a dropping domain, especially since there is often competition from other registrars trying to catch the same domain. If we catch a domain, but do not receive payment for it, we have no choice but to release the domain. If we catch a domain with only one backorder request, an order will be automatically created and the customer has 47 hours to complete the payment. If we catch a domain with multiple backorder requests, the domain will go to a public backorder auction. The winner of the auction will be given 47 hours to complete their payment. If they do not pay, the second highest bidder will be given 24 hours to complete their payment. If you wish to have an auction ban removed, please email [email protected] with your request.

  • How do I automatically pay for Expired Domain Auction and Backorder orders?

Congrats on winning your Expired Domain Auction or Backorder! If you won a backorder and it does not go to auction, it will automatically be processed using your autopay settings. You can use the steps below to update those settings to your preferred payment method. For a backorder auction or an expired auction order, you will need to turn autopay on if you haven't already by following the steps below. Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "Payments" from the left-side menu bar and click "Marketplace Default Payment". If you want to use autopay for your expired auction and backorder auction orders, set "Turn autopay on?" to "Yes." Select your preferred payment method. Click on the "Save" button at the top right corner to save your changes. NOTE: The Primary Payment Method for USD is account credit; auto-payment will not go through unless you have enough account credit in your preferred currency to pay for your order. Prepay into your account to solve this problem. You can choose to pay with credit card for currencies except CNY and IDR if you have already added a credit card. You can choose to set a First Backup and Second Backup payment method in case there is an issue with the Primary or First Backup payment option. If you fail to pay for your Expired Domain Auction or Backorder auction, you may be banned from our auctions and backorders. You cannot select different autopay methods for expired auctions and backorders. The payment method you choose for Expired Domain Auction and Backorder auto-pay orders is no longer the same payment method used for domain auto-renewals.
