How do I bid on a Pre-Expiry Auction?

Updated: 2026/05/08Viewed times: 35

Dynadot now offers Pre-Expiry Auctions! Domains listed in our Pre-Expiry Auctions have been listed by Dynadot users themselves! To place a bid in a Pre-Expiry Auction, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Dynadot account.
  2. Find the domain you want to bid on in our Pre-Expiry Auctions in the Aftermarket section of our site.
  3. Click on the domain name itself or the "Bid Now" button.
  4. In the price box, enter the proxy bid amount and click on the "Place Bid" button.
  5. Click on the "Confirm" button on the pop-up window to confirm your bid and that you will pay for this auction if you win.

NOTE:

  • To bid on an auction, first create a Dynadot account if you don't have one. We require at least $5 account spending before you can participate in our Pre-Expiry Auctions. You can prepay $5 into your account and use the account credit to pay for your first won auction, or any other purchase with us.
  • All Pre-Expiry Auctions last 7 days and end automatically 5 days before expiration. Auctions starting less than 12 days before expiration may end early. You can bid anytime during that period. If a bid is received in the last 5 minutes of an auction, the end time will be extended by 5 minutes. There is no limit to the number of times an auction may be extended before the auction's final "end time" is set.
  • You may place a proxy bid for higher than the current minimum bid. If someone else places a bid, the system will automatically bid for you until your max proxy bid amount is reached. To place a bid of $2,000 or more, a deposit of 10% of the bid amount is required. Ensure your account balance can cover this fee, which will be locked until you are outbid or the order is paid. If you win the auction and choose not to pay for the order, the deposit will be forfeited as a non-payment fee.
  • If you win the auction, you have 48 hours to pay. Once you pay, the domain will be moved into your Dynadot account. If you're the second-highest bidder, you will have 24 hours to pay if the highest bidder doesn't pay.
  • Domains won in Pre-Expiry Auctions will be placed in "Buy Lock" status for 30 days.
  • Domains purchased from Pre-Expiry Auctions will not be renewed and will retain their original expiry date.
