So You've Registered Your Domain, Now What?

So You've Registered Your Domain, Now What?

There are many reasons to register a domain name. A domain can be an investment, the start of a business, the address of your blog, or even just something fun you registered because you liked it and it was available. So, if the latter is the case, you might be asking yourself, "what now?" Here are a few thoughts on what you can do with your new domain name:

Create a Website

Well, I guess I'll just jump right in with the obvious answer: create a website. Anyone can create a beautiful website thanks to the website builder. Dynadot offers an easy-to-use website builder with four (4) plans and all the tools you need. Choose one of our fully customizable templates and then get started with our free plan. Looking for more? Our Basic, Pro, and Business plans offer additional tools at a reasonable price!

Looking for even more? We also offer web hosting. For more advanced users, our VPS hosting is a great option. You can install almost any software and the WordPress preinstalled template is also available.

Forward Your Domain

Not ready to start your own website? Do you already have a great social media, LinkedIn, or blog page? Forwarding your domain to an established social page or blog is easy and free! You can set this up within your Dynadot account by following these how-to instructions. You can also set up what's called "stealth" forwarding. This will keep your domain name at the top of the URL bar when you land on the website you're forwarding it to. There are drawbacks to stealth forwarding, so that is something to consider when deciding what type of forwarding is best for you.

Set Up Email

Now that you own a domain, you can create custom email addresses @ your domain! There are two ways to do this. Any domain you register at Dynadot comes with free email forwarding. What this means is, you can set up email addresses on your domain and forward them to your personal email on Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, etc. One drawback is there is no way to reply using this custom email address.

If you want more functional email, you can either use our Email Hosting or our Website Builder, which comes with built in email. Both can offer unlimited email accounts and plenty of space based on the plan you have. Even our free-one page website builder comes with one free custom email address. Learn how to create your custom domain email through the website builder.

Hopefully these three great options will help get you started. After all, if you have a great domain name, you should make sure you're getting some use out of it!
