Dynadot's Claims about some expired domain names with traffic and revenue!
4/28/2012 06:29
Hi!
Is anybody out there with experience on this issue?
I realized that some folks bid over 1000's of dollars on some domains, only because Dynadot claims some revenue on those domain names!
Dynadot explains that those numbers are only estimates! What kind of research puts Dynadot to claim these figures?

Best regards!
GR.

On what periodicity is the parking revenue information refreshed and updated at the Dynadot's costumers accounts?

When Dynadot claims its just the estimation, this statement does not bound them to limit any specific interval for estimation nor give any responsibility for it. Lets say when you are determing some constant in physics in experiments, your result could be 1% of the real value, but in some cases this is close enough. despite that facts I was contacted by other user who claims this statistics is just a joke in previous posts about that issue.

It's amazingly silly to rely on traffic and revenue statistics from any source that you don't have full access to.

Btw, how do you think a lot of people flip domains? They buy a domain for $8. Then they boost the traffic and revenue of the domain with adwords or traffic programs like adf.ly with a budget of let's say $500. This to generate proof of high traffic and/or $200 income/month.

Then some gullible people buy the domain for $2,000 thinking it generates $200/Month. Of course soon comes the realisation that the domain doesn't make $200/Month since the marketing stopped. The seller of course made $1.5K profit in the process.

In any case, Dynadot should not be responsible for claims about traffic and revenue since those statistics don't come directly from them and as described above can have been manipulated by anyone.

What dynadot could do is make it more clear that those traffic and revenue estimations do not come from their systems.

All we can do is share our experience while parking these expired domains.  This data is collected for us by VeriSign and other well know parking companies.  We have full faith in the accuracy of these estimates.  Since we do not keep our own domain portfolio, all potential buyers are encouraged to do their own research before purchase.
