Dan.com Nameservers for a domain that is Pending Renewal or Delete on Dynadot

I have been tracking a domain that expired in March. Before the domain name expired, it was renewed and Dan.com (a broker) is now the nameserver. Is there a relationship between Dan.com and Dynadot to broker high value domain names? Does Dynadot contact the owner before it drops to arrange this?
