Blogger Help
2/23/2009 14:51
I have setup my domain to work with blogger and I seem to have gotten everything right expect for one thing.

Go to http://www.anoobsguide.com

Now go to http://anoobsguide.com

Why does www.anoobsguide.com work but now anoobsguide.com?

Please tell me how I can fix this.

Thanks.

Blogger used to allow domains to land on the "naked" version of your domain.  They don't allow that anymore.

We have discussed adding a "naked" URL redirect, but it hasn't been implemented yet.

Hi DynaDot staff, I found a possible solution, but I do not know how to apply it since dynadot does not allow for naked domains in the setup area.

rocksteadydrew.com.     14400 IN A 216.239.32.21
rocksteadydrew.com.     14400 IN A 216.239.34.21
rocksteadydrew.com.     14400 IN A 216.239.36.21
rocksteadydrew.com.     14400 IN A 216.239.38.21
www.rocksteadydrew.com.        14400 IN CNAME ghs.google.com.

www.rocksteadydrew.com is the domain record and the others are subdomains. So how do you do that in the Advanced Dynadot DNS?

Btw rocksteadydrew is not fine, its just an example from the tutorial.

Maybe Dynadot can add URL forwarding for domain.com ?
I look around but the forwarding only work for www.domain.com

So the setting:
www.domain.com CNAME ghs.google.com.

Then add forwarding for domain.com to www.domain.com

It looks like using a DNS management tool will work.  Blogger has instructions for 3 services and I was able to get one of our test domains to work with and without the "www."

I created a CNAME for the subdomain "www" and pointed that to "ghs.google.com."

I then created a catchall "*" CNAME that pointed to www.domain.com.

I'm not sure if that second record is required, but it doesn't seem to hurt.

Once I did that, I logged into our Dynadot account and set the Name Servers so that they pointed to the DNS tools servers.

c_d_toronto_ca:

The first record in the Advanced DNS box, the required record, is the one for your naked domain.

As it is, I don't think Google allows landing on their IP address anymore.  I'm running a test now to make certain.

This is ridiculous, I payed $9.25 for my domain and yet I didn't not receive the full features.

Please find a way to make it so that Blogger and Dynadot can work 100%

Thanks
