New Data Analyzer Tool
4/3/2009 15:32
We have added a new Data Analyzer Tool. This tool will allow you to check an unregistered COM domain's traffic data query volume.

You can find it by logging into your account and clicking on the "Search" tab and then "Data Analyzer Tool" sub menu.

Where are you getting this data from?  VeriSign does not provide. Is it an ISP provider? North American Traffic only?  Thanks.

Any possibility of Dynadot allowing bulk customers to grab the data from Dynadot (maybe once a week or month, or something like that) so we can run our own queries locally?

I'm also kind of curious where Dynadot is getting this data from.  Very cool that Dynadot is offering this to their customers :)

We are getting this data from Verisign. Data Analyzer is a new service they just started offering to registrars. The traffic is worldwide.

I believe we are the first registrar to implement the service for our customers. The more you spend with us, the more domains we submit for you every day.

We don't have access to their entire database. We simply submit your domains to them, and they return the results to us the next day.

¿will be possible to test domains in other extensions?
¿the results are very reliable ?

Currently only COM is supported for Data Analyzer. If the central registry offers more TLDs in the future, we will add support as well.

From what we have heard, the traffic stats are reliable. However they count all traffic, including bots.

Can you link us to further information about this on Verisign's site? Perhaps, whatever documentation you were given regarding the new service by verisign?

Thanks!

You can upload as many domains as you want. In fact, some customers have uploaded millions of domains. Large files may take many days to fully submit to Verisign. But you can still view the partial results each day.

Each day we will try to process as many of your domains as possible. Basically, the more money you have spent with us, the more domains we will process for you each day.

The "baseline" and the "extra" fields are just an estimate of how many domains we will process for you each day. Some days you may even get more than these baseline + extra, just because the load is light for that day for example. So it is best to upload a large file, and see what you get.

From their technical docs:

"The VeriSign Data Analyzer Beta service allows you to submit .com domain names for
which you would like to receive an analyzed domain name traffic data query volume score as
described below. VeriSign will take your input file with the list of domain names you wish to be
scored, process the file by first looking for a match of the inputted domain name(s) in our
proprietary NXD Database, then provide back a score in a results file (“Results”) generated and
posted by VeriSign. The score will be displayed on a -1 – 10 scale with -1 being an invalid
domain name, 0 being no data found, 1 being on the low end of traffic volume and 10 being on
the high end. There will be up to a total of 6 scores for each domain name that represent
different periods of time if available, as set forth below:
• The last 1 – 6 days
• The last full week
• The last full 4 weeks
• The last full 13 weeks
• The last full 26 weeks
• The last full 52 weeks"
