this snowbill is illegal! for me it looks like that they want to do simple parking a criminal act. As most of the icann registrars are in the US there will be a rain of disputes against the complete world. Wipo is made against domainholders and for Trademark holders only, and now some want to go to the next steps. this law could destroy our complete industry. EuroDNS.com is not located in the US, we have different laws much more registrant and investor friendly but ICANN is under US government control like we saw already in the past. The possible impact can not be controlled!

I would recommend that anyone that even owns a single domain name or is involved in internet commerce sign the petition. If this passes, it could get out of hand very, very quickly.

IMHO The Snowe Bill is good for the general internet. There are many who just register and park the domains, when some one with a legit need for the same domain tries to register they cannot. That is not fair.

Dream on.
When some TM bully comes after your domains under the guise of "better use" or "priority need" it will be too late to cry.
It is another confiscatory bill tailored to big business.

The Snowe Bill is BAD news for anyone who owns a domain.  Too much red tape will always destroy a future.

It really doesn't even matter if you are a "domain parker" / "domain developer" / or a grandmother who owns a single word domain she uses to post pictures of her grandkids.   If the Snowe Bill passes, all of these people can possibly lose their domain names WITH NO DUE PROCESS.

There are currently perfectly effective ways to recover trademark infringing domains (ICANN's UDRP process & US Trademark Law).  Currently trademark owners prevail in nearly 85% of UDRP cases (they lose because the domain owner has owned the domain before the trademark was registered.)  Plus trademark owners win nearly 100% of all ACPA cases.

Yet some apparently now wish to establish a new regime for contesting allegedly “infringing” domains that is tilted even more in their favor by denying basic due process and substantive protections to domain name registrants – and that provides the possibility that they can use their power and influence to sway public officials to expend taxpayer dollars in defense of private intellectual property rights.
