Dynadot is currently offering a sale on .gay domains to celebrate their first year on the market. Get your own .gay domain here.

While new domain launches are rare, a launch that gets the whole internet talking is rarer still. However, the .gay domain has succeeded in creating a safer zone for LGBTQ communities online and has received rave reviews for its community-centric policies.

From major brands like Calvin Klein and Absolut Vodka, to out celebrities like George Takei, Adam Lambert, and Roxane Gay, to LGBTQ organizations like PFLAG National, CenterLink, and the Feel Something Foundation, the .gay community grew into one of the most vibrant, diverse, and supportive online spaces in its first year on the market.

In 2020, .gay raised over $148,000 for its nonprofit beneficiaries, GLAAD and CenterLink. The .gay registry donates 20% of all new registration revenue (not just profit!). CenterLink is a network of over 250 LGBTQ centers across the U.S. and world and the funds help empower their programs to meet and support LGBTQ individuals within their local communities with services such as counseling, support groups, shelter, medical services, and more. GLAAD has led the charge to change the cultural and media landscape to better represent LGBTQ people and issues.

The .gay domain has now shown it is able to:

  • Create an online community for LGBTQ and allied individuals and businesses while funding real-world change

  • Create a responsible platform for businesses to show their Pride and inclusive policies in a meaningful way

  • Disrupt the status quo by banning hate from its platform

  • Responsibly support and market to LGBTQ people in a way that centers gay joy and validates their lived experiences

To continue supporting the spaces and conversations that can help make the internet safer for LGBTQ people, .gay is premiering the second season of its web series The Library. The show was created in partnership with Two Penguins Productions, and season 1 is now streaming on Revry TV, available in over 250 million homes worldwide.

With an all-new cast of LGBTQ luminaries, .gay and Two Penguins are again showcasing the diversity of LGBTQ people and celebrating all of those lived experiences through humor, storytelling, and community education.

Topics explored in this new season include gay bars, dating, healthcare, the internet, travel, LGBTQ elders, media and pop culture, aging, religion and spirituality, queer visibility, and more. Watch the series at
