What is UDRP Lock on my domain?

Updated: 2026/06/20Viewed times: 140

UDRP (Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy) is an ICANN policy used to resolve domain name disputes, typically when a third party claims that a domain:

  • Infringes a trademark
  • Was registered in bad faith
  • Is being used in a way that violates brand rights

UDRP Lock is applied directly to a domain name to:

  • Protect the domain during dispute or legal risk periods
  • Prevent unauthorized transfers or ownership changes

When a domain is under UDRP Lock, most modification actions are restricted, including:

  • Domain transfers
  • Domain contact or ownership changes
  • Domain deletion requests

Only limited actions are allowed, such as:

  • Domain renewal
  • Domain privacy updates
