    Domain Grace Deletion

    • I registered the wrong domain. What can I do?

With most domain extensions, we can grace delete the domain and issue you an account credit within 5 days of registration. Please submit a grace period deletion request in your account as soon as you realize the mistake. NOTE: Some domains have a grace deletion fee. Not all domains can be deleted for credit. Check out our grace deletion chart to see which of our domain extensions can be grace deleted. Any that cannot be grace deleted are listed as "none" under the grace period column.

    • How do I submit a grace period deletion request?

Dynadot is one of the few registrars that supports domain tasting also know as grace deletions. Most domain extensions support grace deletions and most give you up to 118 grace hours to submit your grace deletion request. To submit a grace deletion request, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "New Domains" from the "Domains" drop-down menu. Check the box next to the domain name(s) you wish to grace delete. Click on the "Request Delete for Credit" button to submit your grace period deletion request. You can also submit bulk grace deletion requests. Please note: Not all domains can be deleted for credit. Check out our grace deletion chart to see which of our domain extensions allow grace deletions and the number of grace hours allotted. Any that cannot be grace deleted are listed as "none" under the "Grace Period" column and will be listed as having 0.00 grace hours left in the "New Domains" section of our control panel after registration. Even if your domain is eligible for grace deletion and your request is submitted within the grace hours allotted, some domain extensions have a maximum rate rate of deletion, which limits the number of grace deletions relative to the number of registrations. If we are at the max rate, your request will be put on the wait list. You can see which domain extensions have a max rate, check out their current rate, and see how many requests are on our wait list all on our grace deletion chart. If your grace deletion request is successful, you will receive a refund in the form of account credit minus any grace deletion fees. Most domain extensions have a fee of $1-$3, though some have no fee and some a have higher fee. All fees are listed under the "Deletion Fee" column of our grace deletion chart. Registry Premium and backorder domains cannot be grace deleted. Finally, please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee that any domain grace deletion will be successful.

    • How do I turn on the auto-grace delete setting?

To turn the auto-grace delete setting on for newly registered domains, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "Domain Defaults" from the "Domains" drop-down menu. Click on the "Auto-Grace Delete Setting" link located on the right-side of the page. Choose the "Yes" option. Click on the "Save Auto-Grace Delete Setting" button to save your changes. NOTE: All grace period deletions are subject to the restrictions listed on our Grace Deletions page. Also, our system will attempt to grace delete domains in the auto-grace delete folder within the last 24 hours of their grace period. If your domain is not located in this folder and has less than 24 hours left, we recommend you submit a manual grace period deletion request.

    • What is grace deletion aka domain tasting?

We are one of the few registrars that supports grace deletion, also known as domain tasting, which allows registrants to "return" an unwanted domain name. This allows people to "taste" a domain by testing its traffic or simply seeing if it's the right fit for what they want. Although not all domain extensions allow grace deletions, many of our most popular domains - including .COM, .NET, and .ORG - do. Most domain extensions that allow grace deletions offer a grace period of 2-5 days; however, some extensions have a limit the amount of grace deletions to 10% of that domain's registrations that month. When we are at our max limit, additional grace deletions are placed on a wait list and are then processed if the limit dips below the max. This means that we cannot guarantee that a grace deletion submission will be successful. Learn how to submit a grace deletion request. See our grace deletion chart to see which domain extensions allow grace deletions, their grace period, their limit rate, and their current rate.

    • Can I submit a bulk grace deletion request?

Yes, you can. To submit your grace deletion request in bulk, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "New Domains" from the "Domains" drop-down menu. Check the "Search" box. Enter the domain list into the box provided (they can be separated by commas or white space). Click on the "Search Domains" button. Check the box next to "Domain Name" at the top of the list to select all domains. Click on the "Request Delete for Credit" button. Click on the "Delete for Dynadot Credit" button. NOTES: Not all domains can be deleted for credit. Check out our grace deletion chart to see which of our TLDs can be grace deleted. Any that cannot be grace deleted are listed as "none" under the "Grace Period" column. There may be a $1.00-$5.00 fee charged for each grace deletion. All fees are listed under the "Deletion Fee" column of our grace deletion chart. There are no guarantees that the domain(s) will be grace deleted. If they are, you will receive your registration price minus the $1.00-$5.00 fee as account credit only.

    • How come I did not get my full grace hours when I registered an .IM domain?

Dynadot is one of the few registrars that supports domain grace deletions; however, we can not guarantee that any domain will be able to be grace deleted. In the case of .IM, the central registry sets the registration date to the start of the day. This means, if you register a domain towards the end of the day, you could lose some of your grace deletion hours.

    • How come my grace deletion has not been processed yet?

Dynadot is one of the few registrars that supports domain grace deletions; however, we can not guarantee that any domain will be able to be grace deleted. If your grace deletion request has not been processed, it is most likely because the domain is at its maximum rate (10%). This rate is based on how many domains we register per month versus the number of domains we grace delete per month. This rate is set by the domain's central registry and cannot be changed by us. When a domain is at its maximum rate, additional grace deletion requests are added to a wait list. As the rate adjusts, our system then process the wait list in the order received. Please note that some domain extensions do not have a maximum rate. This is noted on our grace deletion page by "no limit" under the maximum rate column. If the domain you're trying to grace delete does not have a maximum rate, then there could be an issue with your request and you should email us at orders@dynadot.com.

    • Can I get a refund for my domain? I don't need it anymore.

We do not do refunds, but if the domain name is less than 5 days old, you may be able to request a grace period deletion for a Dynadot account credit. Your "refund" will be the domain's registration cost minus the applicable grace deletion fee stated on our grace deletion page. Please be aware that some domains cannot be grace deleted, and thus, are not eligible for account credit or a refund. Examples include .CO, .EU, .UK, .PL, and .BE. You can see which domains allow grace period deletions and the amount of time available for their grace period on our grace deletion page. Domains over 5 days old cannot be deleted for credit. If you still do not want your domain anymore and would like to delete it, you can submit a domain deletion request within your Dynadot account. You will not receive any account credit when submitting a deletion request. See our refund policy.

    • What are grace hours?

Dynadot is one of the few registrars that supports domain tasting also know as grace deletions. Most domain extensions support grace deletions and most give you up to 118 grace hours to submit your grace deletion. You can see the amount of grace hours each domain extension offers on our Grace Deletion page. You can see the amount of grace hours left for your recent domain registrations by logging in to your Dynadot account and going to "New Domains" from the "Domains" drop down. There you will see a table that lists your most recent domain registrations (from top to bottom) as well as the amount of grace hours left for each of those domains under the "Grace (hours)" column. If you are planning to grace delete your domain, you must do so within the grace hours given for that domain; however, some domain extensions also have a maximum rate of deletion, which limits the number of grace deletions relative to the number of registrations. For this reason, even if you submit your grace deletion request within the grace hours of your domain, there is no guarantee you will be able to successfully grace delete it. If you are successful in your grace deletion, you will receive a refund in account credit minus any deletion fee. Grace domain deletion may be useful, for example, if you misspelled the domain name you wanted to register or you decide that you want to register a different domain name.
