  • How do I connect my domain with my Website Builder using DNS?

    To connect a domain to your Website Builder, the domain must be in the same Dynadot account as the Website Builder you want to connect to it. If this is the case, please follow these steps to connect your domain to the Website Builder using DNS: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Domains” from the left-side menu bar and click "Manage Domains" in the drop-down menu. Check the box next to your domain name(s) and click on the "Action" button. Choose "DNS Settings" from the "Action" list. In the "Domain Record (optional)" section, select "A" from the drop-down menu and then enter “54.177.117.207” in the "IP Address or Target Host" box. For the next line of the "Domain Record (optional)" section, select "A" from the drop-down menu and then enter “54.177.158.246” in the "IP Address or Target Host" box. In the "Subdomain Records (optional)" section, enter "www" as the subdomain, select "A" from the drop-down menu and then enter “50.18.238.17” in the "IP Address or Target Host" box. Press the "Save DNS" button to save your changes. NOTE: Your domain must be linked directly to your Website Builder before you can connect to the Website builder using DNS. Please be aware that it may take some time for your settings to propagate. Your settings should look similar to what is shown below: (click to enlarge) Website Builder DNS Example If you want to connect a domain that is in another Dynadot account to your website builder, you will need to initiate a Change Ownership request to move the domain to the Dynadot account which holds the Website Builder.

  • How do I add an audio/music file to my Website Builder?

    To add an audio or music file to your Website Builder, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Websites" from the left-side menu bar. Click on the "edit" link next to the website builder you want to use. Click on the "Add" icon on the left-hand tool bar. Click on and drag the "Audio" icon to the place you want it to appear on the page. After you have placed it, the "Audio Settings" box will pop-up. Click on "Upload Audio" to upload a mp3, wav, or m4a file from your computer. The maximum file size is 10 MB. You must enter the "Track Title" and the "Track Artist" to successfully save the file. Click on the"Save" button. Your audio file will appear where you added it on the page. Click on the "Save" button at the top left-hand side of the page. Once your audio file appears on your Website Builder, you can edit by following these steps: To replace the audio file, change the track title, or change the track artist, click on the settings icon that appears in the top right-hand corner of the file. To move the audio file, click on the "Move" icon that appears in the top right-hand corner of the file. To remove the audio file, click on the "Trash" icon that appears in the top right-hand corner of the file. Want to make other changes to your Website Builder?   • Do I have to set up a Stripe account to accept payments through your Website Builder's shopping cart?

    Yes, a Stripe account is required for you to accept payment through our Website Builder's e-commerce shopping cart. Currently, Stripe is the only payment processor available with our shopping cart, though we hope to add more options in the future. How do I set up my Stripe account? Are there any fees associated with your Website Builder's shopping cart? Please note that access to our shopping cart feature is only available through our Website Builder Business plan.

  • How do I change the font, color, and size for the headers in my website's content section in your website builder?

    Our Website Builder allows you to set 3 different headers to use within your website's content (this is different from your website's main header). To change the font, size, color, and more of your website's content headers, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select “My Websites” from the left-side menu bar. Click on the "edit" link next to the website builder you want to use. Click on the "Design" icon (the one that looks like a paint brush) on the left-hand tool bar. Under the "Content" section of our style editor, click on "Header 1," "Header 2," or "Header 3." The text editor for each header allows you to set a color, font, size, weight (light, normal, bold), style (normal, italic, oblique), letter spacing, and allow you to easily "transform" your header into all uppercase, all lowercase, and all first letter capitalization. If you have any text set to the header you are changing, you will be able to see your changes as you make them. To save your changes, simply click out of the editor and then click "Save" at the top of the page. Please note that is best practice to set Header 1 as the largest font size, Header 2 middle, and Header 3 as the smallest font size.

  • Why are there ads on my free hosting website?

    If you are using our one page free hosting available through your domain's name servers settings, then you will see ads on your website (This may no longer be available in some accounts). However, we now offer a Website Builder, which gives you one free page with no ads! Along with giving you one free page with no ads, it also offers eight completely customizable website templates and easy-to-use tools. The free version of our Website Builder does have "Powered by Dynadot" in the footer; however, this is not an "ad".

  • Does your Website Builder shopping cart automatically know the sales tax I should charge?

    No, our Website Builder shopping cart does not know the sales tax you should charge for your online store. It is up to you to decide if you should charge any sales tax and how much that sales tax should be. Our system offers you a way to manually set up taxes based on country, state, or province. You may need to do some research on sales tax to decide what you need to do. SBA.gov is a good resource if you are located within the US. If you do need to set up any taxes, you will need to first set up a shipping zone in our system: How do I set up shipping zones? How do I set up sales taxes?

  • How do I change the URL of a page on my Website Builder?

    A page URL can only be changed if you have upgraded to our Website Builder Pro or Business plan. The way that we set page URLs is by matching the URL to the page title you enter when you create a page. This is the default even if you have an upgraded plan (you just have the opportunity to edit it). Before you edit your page URL, consider whether this will cause any links to this page to break. If you have an upgraded plan, follow these instructions to edit your page URL: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select “My Websites” from the left-side menu bar. Click on the "edit" link next to the Website Builder you want to use. Click on the "Page" icon (the one that looks like a piece of paper) on the left-hand tool bar. Click on the page whose URL you'd like to change. Enter your desired new page URL under "URL". Hit "Save" at the top to save your changes. If you have not upgraded, you can consider adding a new page and setting the title to match the URL you want. Then, simply change the page title after you save your new page if you want a different title.

  • How do I change the template in my Website Builder?

    To change the template for your Website Builder, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Websites" from the left-side menu bar. Click on the "edit" link next to the website builder you want to use. Click on the "Settings" icon on the left-hand tool bar (the one that looks like a wheel). Click on the "Templates" button. Choose your template by clicking "Choose [Template Name]" on the one you want. The template you are currently using will be grayed out and you will not be able to select it. There are two options, "MIGRATE" and "START NEW", to change your template. If you choose "MIGRATE", it will not delete the content you have created on your website builder and will simply move the content around to fit the new template you have selected. If you choose "START NEW", all changes and added content will be discarded and cannot be restored after. NOTE: There is another option "RESET TEMPLATE" at the top right corner. This button will delete the changes and content in the current template and restored it back to the default style of this template only.

  • Does your Website Builder's shopping cart charge any fees?

    Yes, our Website Builder's shopping cart does have fees. Although Dynadot does not charge any fees for your shopping cart transactions, Stripe, the payment processor for our shopping cart, does. Stripe charges 2.9% + 30¢ per successful credit card charge. Our e-commerce shopping cart is available with our Website Builder's Business plan, which also includes unlimited pages, a free domain name, custom email, and more.   • Are there ads on your Website Builder?

    No! We do not post any ads on our Website Builder even if you are using the free version. The only thing that we do have on the free version of our Website Builder is a footer that says, "Powered by Dynadot". This can be removed or replaced by upgrading our to our Pro ($20/year) plan.
