  • What does it mean when a domain is in "Auction Lock" status?

When a domain won in our Expired Domain Auctions is added to the winning bidder's account, the domain is put in "Auction Lock" status for about 15 days. While in this status, the domain cannot be unlocked, transferred to a different registrar, or moved into another Dynadot account. However, you can set the name servers for the domain. The Whois information will still show the registrant as "Pending Renewal or Deletion."At the end of the 15 days, the "Auction Lock" status will automatically be removed.NOTE: This is different than the "Buy Lock" that is placed on Marketplace domains. Inventory from our registrar partners may have a 60 day hold depending on registry transfer requirements. Dynadot is unable to override such restrictions.

  • How do I initiate a change ownership request if I am the current owner (domain push)?

There are a few things you need to do before you start your change ownership request (domain push) order. Ask the recipient of the domain(s) to create a free Dynadot account if they do not already have one. Once the recipient has created a Dynadot account, ask for their Push Username. (NOTE: The Push Username name is not necessarily the same as your Dynadot username). This is needed to move or "push" the domain into their account. Make sure your domain is not about to expire. After you submit the domain push order, the recipient must accept the move before the domain expires. Otherwise, the domain must be renewed before it can be moved. Before you start the domain push, you will need to unlock the domain(s) you want to push. Once you've unlocked your domain(s) and have the recipient's push username, you can start the change ownership (domain push) order using the following steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "Manage Domains" in the drop-down. Check the box next to the domain name(s) you want to move. Select "Change Account" from the "Action" drop-down menu. In the "Domain Change Account (Push)" pop-up window, enter the recipient's Push username in the "Recipient Push Username" section. If you are pushing your domain to a sub-account and wish to retain the domain's current DNS settings, you can check the box next to "Keep current DNS settings". Click on the "Push Domains" button. Click on your shopping cart and follow the "Checkout" buttons to submit your change ownership order. An email will be sent to the recipient of the domain(s) asking them to confirm the move. Once the recipient accepts the move, the domain(s) will automatically be pushed from your account to the recipient's account. To do a bulk domain push, simply check off all the domains you would like to push and then follow the same steps above. Please note that we'll be sending the Forum Name and Organization / Name to the recipient account.New accounts cannot push a domain into a new account.NOTE: Custom DNS settings do not carry over when a domain is moved between Dynadot accounts, unless it is being moved to a sub-account and the option "Keep current DNS settings" is checked.

  • How do I submit a grace period deletion request?

Dynadot is one of the few registrars that supports domain tasting also know as grace deletions. Most domain extensions support grace deletions and most give you up to 118 grace hours to submit your grace deletion request. To submit a grace deletion request, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "New Domains" in the drop-down. Check the box next to the domain name(s) you wish to grace delete. Under the "Action" drop-down, click on the "Request Delete for Credit" button to submit your grace period deletion request. You can also submit bulk grace deletion requests. Please note: Not all domains can be deleted for credit. Check out our grace deletion chart to see which of our domain extensions allow grace deletions and the number of grace hours allotted. Any that cannot be grace deleted are listed as "none" under the "Grace Period" column and will be listed as having 0.00 grace hours left in the "New Domains" section of our control panel after registration. Even if your domain is eligible for grace deletion and your request is submitted within the grace hours allotted, some domain extensions have a maximum rate of deletion, which limits the number of grace deletions relative to the number of registrations. If we are at the max rate, your request will be put on the wait list. You can see which domain extensions have a max rate, check out their current rate, and see how many requests are on our wait list all on our grace deletion chart. If your grace deletion request is successful, you will receive a refund in the form of account credit minus any grace deletion fees. Most domain extensions have a fee of $1-$3, though some have no fee and some have higher fee. All fees are listed under the "Deletion Fee" column of our grace deletion chart. If you would like this account credit reversed and a refund issued to your original payment method instead, please contact Dynadot support as soon as possible. Refunds can be issued within 60 days of the payment date. New accounts cannot submit grace delete requests. Backorder domains cannot be grace deleted. Finally, please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee that any domain grace deletion will be successful.
