Friday Five: 5 Best Oktoberfest Beers
Fröhlichen Freitag! That's happy Friday in German to you! It's finally October, so today we're going to take a look at some of our favorite Oktoberfest beers (even though Oktoberfest is actually in September). I've searched through beer ratings and have found 5 beers that make this year's Oktoberfest a great one to go to, and if you can't you might as well try the beers anyways! You don't have to be a beer connoisseur to love these ones--they're good for any beer lover out there! Take a look at our list (alphabetical order, you pick which one's best!), but don't forget to grab a pen and paper, because you'll want to write these down!
One of Augustiner's two beers served from traditional wooden barrels, this beer is a scrumptious delight that has been described as "liquid perfection." This thick, golden beer has a quickly diminishing head and boasts flavors of baked bread with a touch of hops and alcohol. Augustiner gives you a medium-bodied aromatic beer that is perfect for a sunny day. This one is a great one to grab and watch the leaves fall!
Cleveland, Ohio, USA
This medium bodied, nutty-caramel beer is a treat on a hot fall day. American Great Lakes gives you a crisp beer with a hint of hops at the backend of each swig that competes well with its German competition. Not to mention its looks! This beer is a beautifully clear amber that will have you staring into its eyes the entire time, just look at it!
Well known Paulaner is one of Germany's favorite breweries, and brings you a smooth and spicy beer that you'll come back to again and again! This one is notable for its carbonation--bubbles! The beer is a rich Oktoberfest classic with malty tones that will make your tastebuds sing!
Do you like bacon? Of course you do! Well you'll love this beer then, as it flaunts a smokey bacon scent and flavor. This one is not your classic marzen, as it has more hops and less malty sweetness, but it is high on our list! Grab this one and it'll take you to the campfire of your dreams!
Can you pronounce that name? That's all part of the fun with this fruity, golden beer. Another spicy beer, Weihenstephaner is a medium- to light-bodied delicacy that will take you back to Oktoberfest in a flash! Enjoy the prickly carbonation (refreshing, yet easily drinkable) and remember why you love fall!
