Ten million is a milestone. But more than that, it's a reflection of the people who chose us to register a domain, grow a portfolio, build a business, or just try something new.

 

From a San Mateo Startup to a Global Registrar

In 2002, Todd Han started Dynadot in San Mateo in his spare room, with no investors, and with a very specific goal in mind. He's talked about it before, and it's become something of a company legend:

Luckily, he didn't retire. He instead built something that has grown into one of the most trusted names in the domain industry.

Today, Dynadot spans five offices and four time zones, serving over 100,000 customers in 108 countries. Let's remember some important milestones and achievements we had in this journey.

 

Key Milestones Along the Way

 

2002: Founded in San Mateo, Silicon Valley, CA

Todd Han launches Dynadot with a clear philosophy: build a registrar that puts customers first and keeps prices transparent and low. Twenty-three years later, that philosophy hasn't changed. We're still privately owned, still based in San Mateo (among other places), and still making customer-oriented decisions.

 

2009: Afternic Partnership

We started our partnership with Afternic, one of the largest domain marketplaces in the world. With this partnership, domain investors and sellers gained a direct connection to a massive secondary market, all from their Dynadot account.

 

2013: The Team Starts Growing Beyond the US

The opening of Dynadot's first office in China marks the beginning of the company's global growth story. What started as a small team has grown into the company's largest location today.

Outside of the United States and China, Dynadot has since expanded to offices in Canada and Europe.

 

2018: 1 Million Domains Under Management

Dynadot crossed 1 million domains under management in 2018 (16 years after the company was founded).

 

2018: User Auctions Launch

Dynadot expands its marketplace with the launch of User Auctions, giving customers the ability to list their domains for auction directly on the platform. Any user could put a domain up for bidding, opening up a more dynamic and exciting way to buy and sell.

 

2023: A New Look and Smarter Tools

Dynadot enters 2023 with a fresh brand identity: cleaner, more modern, and built to reflect the company it had become. The rebrand arrives alongside two product launches: the AI Domain Search tool and the Dynadot Domain Appraisal Tool. New tools are launched to give domain investors better data and smarter search.

We also launched Open Marketplace and expanded our marketplace by allowing users to list their domains that are registered with other registrars.

 

2024: 5 Million Domains, #5 Domain Registrar, and New Tools

From 1 million to 5 million in six years. Dynadot hits the 5 million domains under management mark in 2024, and the industry takes notice. Forbes named Dynadot one of the 10 Best Domain Registrars of 2024, the company ranks #5 in the global registrar standings, and USA Today recognizes it as one of the best domain registrars.

It's also a big year for new products. Knowing how challenging it can be to build a brand from scratch, We launched a free logo builder, letting anyone with a domain registered to create a custom logo in minutes. The Domain Reseller Program also officially launches, giving businesses and platforms a way to offer domain registration and management directly to their own customers through an integrated storefront.

 

2025: Voted #1 Registrar and a New, Premium Marketplace

For domain investors, NamePros is the community. And in 2025, that community voted Dynadot the #1 registrar for the sixth year in a row. This recognition means a lot, because it comes from the people who use registrars every single day.

That same year, we launched NameClub, a dedicated premium domain marketplace designed to help buyers find and sellers list domains with greater visibility.

 

2026: 10 Million Domains and #4 Registrar

Quietly and quickly (as these things tend to happen now) the counter ticks past 10 million domains under management. The biggest number in company history, and won't not be the last.

Currently, the company ranks #4 in the global registrar standings, according to the Domain Name Stat website, which is another big achievement for us.

 

A Team Spread Across the Globe

Behind 10 million domains is a team of 200+ people working across five offices on three continents. Different time zones, different languages, same commitment to keeping things running smoothly for the people who depend on us.

It's one of the things about Dynadot that doesn't always make the headlines but matters enormously: when you reach out for support, there's a real person on the other end. Usually more than one, depending on the hour.
