How do I set up my domain to work with Google Apps using a CNAME?


To set up Google Apps with your domain, please follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Dynadot account.
  2. Select "Manage" from the "Domains" drop-down menu.
  3. Check the box next to your domain name(s) and then click on the "Name Servers" icon.
  4. Click on the "DNS" tab.
  5. Under the "Domain Record (required)" field, select "Forward" as the type and enter "http://www.yourdomain.ext" as the "Target Host".
  6. In the next line, select "TXT" as the type and enter your Google verification string in the "Target Host" box.
  7. Under the "Subdomain Record (optional)" field, enter "www" as the subdomain and "CNAME" as the type, then enter "ghs.google.com" as the "Target Host".
  8. For your second subdomain, enter "calendar" as the subdomain and "CNAME" as the type, then enter "ghs.google.com" as the "Target Host".
  9. For the third subdomain, enter "docs" as the subdomain and "CNAME" as the type, then enter "ghs.google.com" as the "Target Host".
  10. For the last subdomain, enter "mail" as the subdomain and "CNAME" as the type, then enter "ghs.google.com as the "Target Host".
  11. Scroll down to the "MX Records" field and enter "aspmx.l.google.com", "alt1.aspmx.l.google.com", and "alt2.aspmx.l.google.com".
  12. Click on the "Save DNS" button to save your changes.
