Is your calendar packed with back-to-back responsibilities? Between work, personal life, errands, and getting enough sleep, it can be hard to find time for the most important thing: "me time"! Spending quality time with yourself is proven to be very beneficial to your health. Overworking can take a toll on your physical and emotional health and cause you to feel burnt out, so it's important to take time to relax, recharge, reflect and spend time with someone who really matters— yourself!

"Me time" is also a key factor in maintaining a balanced life. Since January is "Get a Balanced Life Month", now is a great time to rearrange your schedule to give yourself the time you deserve! Here are five ways to make the most of your "me time"!

1. Practice Meditation

Outdoor Meditation

Find peace with yourself by practicing meditation! Meditation is proven to provide a multitude of health benefits including decreasing depression, regulating mood, reducing stress and anxiety, and improving focus. Apps like Headspace and Aura allow you to follow guided meditation sessions wherever you go, or you can learn how to guide yourself! Meditating is a great way to find inner peace and practice being more mindful.

2. Get Active

No matter what level of physical activity you do, exercising comes provides great physical and mental benefits including strengthening your body, controlling your weight, reducing your stress level, and boosting your mood! If you're not too fond of the gym, use your "me time" to find an activity that you enjoy that still makes you break a sweat! Whether it's dancing, yoga, frisbee, hiking, or martial arts, your mind and body will benefit!

3. Get Outdoors

Staying cooped up in your house or office can take a toll on your health, so go outside and soak up some Vitamin D! Studies show that being outside can improve your mood, reduce anxiety and better your physical health. Simply take a walk, go to a park, or even take a hike. Schedule some time for yourself to explore the scenic nature spots in your area. You can turn your "me time" into an adventure by exploring the great outdoors!

4. Get Your Creative Juices Flowing

Art Supplies

Use your "me time" to create something beautiful! Take some time every day to learn a new creative skill like knitting, watercoloring, calligraphy, photography or scrapbooking. Exercising your right brain is shown to reduce stress, decrease negative emotions, and increase and renew brain function. If you create work consistently, you'll soon have a whole portfolio of art as a result of your "me time!" My personal favorite "me time" art activity is calligraphy, which helps me relax and keep my mind at ease!

5. Keep a Journal

Doing Homework

We have so many thoughts and feelings throughout the day that it can feel overwhelming. Journaling is a great way to express these thoughts freely without judgement. Research has proven that journaling improves your well-being, reduces stress, and helps you organize your thoughts. Spending your "me time" journaling allows you to process all your thoughts and feelings and find your piece of mind! You can even make your journal public by creating a blog! A .ME domain name extension is the perfect way to personalize your blog!

Don't forget to schedule some "me time" this week, and don't forget that .ME is on sale for only $8.99 for a 1 year registration! This deal ends 12/31/18 23:59 UTC, so make sure to get .ME today!
