  • How do I unlock my domain?

To unlock your domain, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "Manage Domains" in the drop-down. Check the box next to the domain name(s) you want to unlock. Select "Unlock Domains" from the "Bulk Action" drop-down menu. If your account is locked, you will be prompted to unlock your account before proceeding. Unlocking your account will require you to enter your "Birthday" (as well as a Token Code if you have set up Google Authenticator and/or an SMS Code if you have SMS set up). After entering the necessary information to unlock your account, click the "Unlock Account" button. This will take you back to the "Manage Domains" page where you can make your domain selection(s) again. Click the "Unlock Domains" button to unlock your domain(s). Please submit a "Forgot Birthday" request if you do not remember your "Birthday." Please submit a "Lost Cellphone" request if you have lost your cellphone or cannot access it for Google Authenticator and/or SMS.

  • How do I activate my security key to my Dynadot account?

Linking your Security key to your Dynadot account, along with your "birthday" and Google Authenticator is a great way to add extra security to your account. This is why we recommend adding it as a part of your account security. To activate your Security key, you will first need to purchase and register your physical security key on your computer. Each security key has its own steps. Please refer to the product guide and follow those steps. After you have registered your key, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select “Security” from the "My Info" drop-down menu. Unlock your account using the button at the top of the page. Under “Two Factor Authenticate“, click on ‘Security Key’. Insert the security key into your computer’s port, or connect via your mobile device. Once you have connected please verify your key through touching the top of the key. Click on the "Enable Security Key" button to save your changes. Please note: Your browser may ask you to allow/enable permissions.

  • Do I really have to enter my Google Authenticator token code or SMS code on every login?

No, you don't. You can choose to either enter your code at every login or have our system remember your IP address and only enter the code when you're logging in from a new IP address. The default setting has code entry at each login, but if you want to change it, you can do so by following these instructions: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Click "My Info" from the left-side menu bar, then click "Security". Click Unlock Account , verify your identity by entering your "birthday" as well as your Google Authenticator token code and/or your SMS code into the "Account Lock" area. Click the "Unlock Account" button. Scroll down to the "Autehntication Settings" section. Here you can select either "Every Login (Most Secure)" or "Every New IP Address" and then click "Save Settings" to save your changes. Haven't added this extra layer of security yet? • What is 2 step verification?

Dynadot takes account security seriously. This is why we don't just rely on your username and password to ensure the security of your domains. In addition to the "birthday" you are required to enter, you can also set up 2 step verification to add another layer of security to your account. We offer the following security options that you can add to your account for 2 step verification: SMS Authentication: You will receive a verification code via text message that you must enter along with your "birthday" to unlock your account. Google Authenticator: This is a smartphone app that gives you a time sensitive verification code to enter along with your "birthday" to unlock your account. Security Key: Is a physical USB drive that connects with your devices, including computers and laptops, to prove identity to access specific resources on a network. Similar to an OTPs, a security key can be used to authenticate a user whenever they wish to access specific resources or need to log in to their accounts on a website or an application. If you want even more security for your account, you can use both the SMS authentication and Google Authenticator together. You will then be required to enter both along with your "birthday" to unlock your account.

  • How do I find my Google Authenticator serial number or key?

To locate your Google Authenticator serial number or key, please follow these steps: Sign in to your Dynadot account. Select "My Info" from the left-side menu bar and click "Security" in the drop-down. • How do I lock my account?

If you've unlocked your account for any reason, our system will automatically re-lock it within one hour for security reasons. However, we recommend re-locking your account as soon as you no longer need to have it unlocked. If you're not sure if your account is locked or not, please check with these steps: Select "My Info" from the left-side menu bar and click "Security" in the drop-down. Under the "Account Lock Status", check to see if it is locked or unlocked. Press the "Lock Account Now" button if the account is unlocked.

  • When will I be required to enter my SMS Authentication code?

SMS Authenticator, along with your "birthday" and Google Authenticator is a great way to add extra security to your account. This is why we recommend adding it as a part of your account security. You will be required to enter your SMS Authentication code at the following places: Login: If you are not also using Google Authenticator, you will be asked to enter an SMS code at login after your username and password. (However, if you are using Google Authenticator and SMS Authenticator, you will only be asked to enter your Google Authenticator token code at login.) Unlocking Your Account: You are also required to enter your SMS code when you unlock your account. This will be the true even if you also use Google Authenticator because in that case, you will be asked to enter both codes along with your birthday. Unlocking your account is required for certain account functions such as editing your account info and unlocking your domains. Lost your cellphone? Forgot your birthday?
