We do not hide the name for the whois privacy for legal reasons. Please see this article for a full explanation:

I noticed in the whois of a domain that you put [email protected] as contact E-mail.

Don't you think it may be better to use a unique E-mail like [email protected] to forward correspondence to domain holder so you don't have to filter out the mails.

That is a good idea, and it is how other registrars do it. If people prefer an automated system, we could implement it.

Currently, someone actually checks every email to a domain that uses our privacy service. That way we can filter out the spam. We do have spam filters in place, but sometimes the filters miss things. Also, sometimes important email is categorized as spam.

...and yet here it is, 7 years later, and still all private email goes to the same address: [email protected].  Thanks to that, I was unable to verify my domain and had to set up a mail server before I could GTD today since no one forwarded me the email.  smh

There is nothing in our privacy mailbox for you, j_d_san_francisco_us.  We certainly would have forwarded it if there was.  In general, you can expect messages sent to privacy to be forwarded within 24 hours.  They do, of course, need to mention a valid domain name.

As for an automated system, we've put our focus elsewhere lately, but we can certainly revisit the request.

It looks like you have removed privacy and your whois is now pointed to your personal email address.

+1 for revisiting the request to give each domain its individual privacy email address. The benefits are obvious.

We plan to offer individualized privacy addresses in 2018.

That is good News.

Be sure to make it individual per domain, not just per customer.

In other words, do not use the same "privacy" email address for the domains of one customer. Silo made that mistake at the beginning and even though they would frequently change these privacy email addresses, the result was that whois crawlers could compile lists of domains belonging to the same registrant, rendering the privacy Feature somewhat ineffective.
