This is what wikipedia --the tree of knowledge-- reflects on SEO:

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine's "natural" or un-paid ("organic") search results.

Right.... very very deep... NOT!

Sounds more like the style that my 60-year-old-virgin history teacher at highschool used to say, who read every book on earth, but never did anything innovative, just repeating facts, like a mindless fool soaking the creativity from young people that are in the most creative state in their lives, and forces to read about ww2. (thats why its in the off-topic) :)

However... back to the topic:
To me SEO sounds like a marketing trick, at one point it was the trendy-sales-talk of the hip IT-guys with there fast talks and that 'we know what we are talking about' the new hype.... More realisticly it means that people are building a crap content website, and then compensate it by rank up with Adwords or even Blackhat SEO tools.

In 1996, when i worked for a webdesign company, it was truly the golden age for nerds, google allowed about everything!! Perhaps they were just too stupid then?? Or maybe they were smart, and let people like us create the content for them to win the battle of the search engines, and yes... they did! Kudos to google... but dont forget your roots...

Methods like: Link Cloaking, Keyword Stuffing, Backlink Hijacking, Content Scraping, Email Spiders and using someones open relay server to send it, you name it, we did it! (this is bad behavior, specially in these times, we were just young and part of the pioneers of the underground)

Company's paid us five times more for dirty ranking then for a state of the art php site, which feels like a 3-star-chef working at the local McDrive. But in all honesty, enjoyed it anyway :) because im a pirate, low class, high octane.

>>> Fast forward to 2014 >>>

The new google Seo motto seems more like: "quality over quantity" how gay it may sound...

Its like someone who used to smoke 2 packs of Marlboro a day, and quitted after 20 years, and now if someone lits a cigarette, they go all emo on their ass. Well, you cant blame them actually, they just want to deliver better content to people, and with the history of spam, its gonna be tough to clear out the trash websites.

The internet is a pile of shit: 50% porn and spam, 20% marketing, 20% facebook, 5% knowledge, 5% nerds, i may be off a little on these numbers... xD, but its clear to me:
google will have a tough job cleaning up after their own party, waking up with a huge hangover that they probably will deny coming from.

Having said all this...

The funny thing is that they update there search engine algorithms, but the oldskool stuff still works... the only difference is, spam needs seo too :) and you just need to plan it out over longer spans of time. But it must be consistent.

Anyway, it takes to long to do in one post, and would like to discuss more about this (if there is any interest at all)

What do you guys do? What tools do you use? How do you pick a domain?
Dont be shy, share with us what you want, ask us what you need, its all cool.

I'll be sports, and start by giving a few very powerfull resources. (dont buy them, but download them on torrents, just use the trail version in a virtual machine endless times, or use ida-pro to reverse engineer out the "enter-serial crap"
But, use with care, because you can seriously hurt the ranking of a website if you use this blatantly. (better to ask here, then to mess around and get removed from google)
