Author Samantha March's Website Story - How Having a Website Helped Her Become a Published Author

How Having a Website Helped Dynadot Customer Samantha March Become a Published Author

No matter what business you're in, having a website can open up new doors. This has especially been true for Dynadot customer Samantha March. Samantha March is an author, editor, publisher, blogger, and all around book lover. She runs the popular book and women's lifestyle blog ChickLitPlus, which she started with the hope of becoming a published author. Today, she's not only a published author, but also runs her own independent publishing company. I spoke with Samantha to learn more about how she got started and what having a website has done for her.

What made you decide to start your website ChickLitPlus?

I started ChickLitPlus as a way to gain insight and connections in the writing industry, as my hope was to become a published author. I also love books and talking about them, and this was a way for me to be able to do that.

How did you get started as an author?

My website was a huge help, as it opened me to a world of authors, editors, beta readers, and reviewers. It gave me connections; it gave me a built-in cheering section to keep on writing, and it gave me knowledge of the industry. I published my first novel less than two years after starting my website.

How has your website helped you get your name out as an author and publisher?

My website has helped me create a name, a brand, and a following. Thanks in part to social media, I have an easy way to reach out to my readers, to let them get a glimpse into my life, my writing schedule, and my books. My website is filled with content for people looking for a good book recommendation and for people interested in reading about a popular or new writer. I have a section filled with tips for aspiring writers, and even feature services such as editing and marketing on my website.

How has your website helped you stay connected to fellow authors and readers?

It gives both - authors and readers - an outlet to visit everyday. With the help of associate reviewers and contributors, ChickLitPlus has anywhere from 5-8 new posts each day. There is always new information, reviews, interviews, and other content for people to enjoy.

Do you have any tips for new authors who are considering starting a website?

A website helps make you legitimate. It's frustrating for a reader to want to learn more about an author, then be unable to find them anywhere in the virtual world. The same goes with social media. If you want a following and want to keep and expand your following, it a must to have an online presence.
