My Job is Soda Pressing Meme - Get Our Tips for Happiness at Work!

Don't Let Your 'Soda Pressing' Job Bring You Down! Get Our Tips for Happiness at Work!

I haven't always been so lucky to work at such a great company like Dynadot. Prior to Dynadot, I worked jobs that weren't all that interesting as well as jobs that I just plain didn't like. Obviously, if you really dislike your job you should look for ways to improve your situation - namely by focusing on finding another job. No matter whether you love your job or hate your job, there are always ways to improve your happiness at work right now (after all it can take time to find a new and better job). Here are a few simple tips to improve your happiness at work:

1. Develop a Social Circle

I know that even at the uninteresting jobs and the jobs I didn't really like, having co-workers around me that I did like (even if it was only a few) made a big difference. Getting to know your co-workers is a great way to feel like you're a part of the team. It's also a great way to make friends both inside the office and sometimes even outside as well. Most of us spend a significant amount of time at work with our co-workers, so getting to know them can be a great way to improve your not-so-great situation at work. Plus, having people who know and (hopefully) like you at work can be a great boost to your career when it comes to getting things done and even getting promotions.

2. Do the Things You Dread First

I know it may be hard, but once you've gotten the things you dread doing out of the way, you can (hopefully) spend the rest of your day doing the things you actually like about your job. Now I know sometimes it may seem like there is nothing that you like about your job, but come on - there has to be at least one thing that you like. Make sure you make time for that one thing you like - or hopefully many things you like and if possible try and finish them more towards the end of the day, so you can leave on high(er) note.

3. Get Out of the Office

You may feel like you're stuck at a 'soda pressing' job, but that doesn't mean you have to be stuck in your 'soda pressing' office all day. Take advantage of your lunch time to get out. Try a new restaurant near your office or see if there is a nearby park where you can eat your homemade lunch. You can even just use your lunch time to get out and walk around to stretch your legs and get a little exercise. This can be a nice change of pace, especially if you sit at a desk most of the day, and hey, a little Vitamin D never hurt either! (Well, unless you're getting sunburned.)

4. Smile

I know if may be hard sometimes, but even just forcing yourself to smile can make you feel better. This is something that my yoga teacher often says when we're in an especially difficult pose and everyone is concentrating on how much the pose sucks and, as a result, also frowning. Just cracking that smile allows you to focus on something else. Putting a smile on your face never hurts, especially when you remember that you won't be at your 'soda pressing' job forever!
