Oct 27, 2015

Greetings Trivia Tuesday Players! Game day is here, so relax and enjoy a round of trivia! As always, we have three domain related questions along with three amazing prizes. If you're new to our game, check out our game rules and regulations before playing this week's round. Good luck!

Last Week's Answers

Easy: What is an authorization code?
Reward: 10% Off Domain Transfer (.COM, .NET, or .ORG)

Answer: An authorization code, also known as "auth code", is an assortment of random letters and numbers assigned to a domain. When one transfers a domain to another registrar, its auth code is required to start the transfer. This helps prevent domain hijackers from transferring a domain without the owner's permission. Additionally, authorization codes must be retrieved from the current domain registrar where the domain is registered. Follow these instructions to find your auth code in your Dynadot account.

Medium: What is a domain hack?
Reward: 50% Off Domain Transfer (.COM, .NET, or .ORG)

Answer: A domain hack is a domain that combines the domain name with the top-level domain (TLD) to spell out a word or saying. There are many examples of domain hacks that create words including Time Magazine's ti.me, Google's goo.gl, and Instagram's instagr.am. With so many country code domains (ccTLDs) out there, there is no shortage of domain hacks you can register if you get creative. More here

Hard: Are there ads on our Website Builder?
Reward: 1 Free Domain Registration (.COM, .NET, .ORG, or .XYZ)

Answer: No! We do not post any ads on our Website Builder, even if you are using the free version. The only thing we have on the free version of Website Builder is a footer that says, "Powered By Dynadot". This can be removed or replaced with any upgrade to either our Pro or Business plan. Thank you to everyone who played this week's round of trivia! If you're new to our game, check out game rules and regulations then play this round!

Hard: The Dynadot Account Management Client is an application that allows you to manage your domains right from your computer! It will synchronize with Dynadot's servers so any change that you make on the client will appear when you log into your Dynadot account. Easy: Domain life cycle is as follow [ available > registred > expired > redemption grace period > pending deleting ] . * "available" means a domain name is not registered by anyone and is available. * "registred" means the domain name will become active and registered once it is paid for. "expired" means the domain name is deactivated. ( for details see http://www.domainsherpa.com/understanding-the-domain-name-lifecycle/ )

What European country code domain extensions (ccTLDs) does Dynadot support? We support several country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) from around the world. Each country is given their own code based on ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country codes (in most cases, there are a few exceptions). European country code domain extensions are - .DE - Germany's domain .UK - The United Kingdom's domain .IM - The Isle of Man's domain .ME - Montenegro's domain .NL - The Netherlands' domain .AT - Austria's domain .BE - Belgium's domain .PL - Poland's domain .LT - Lithuania's domain
