How This 'Little House' Crafted Its Site For Success

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Toni, a self-described geek art designer who started Little House of Crafting. She founded Little House of Crafting about 2 years ago, originally selling products such as pinback buttons and perler bead art at artist alleys and amine conventions she attended with a friend who was also starting her own business. She and her friend had a blast attending these events, sharing a booth as they each built their businesses. After a few months, Toni decided that she wanted to reach a wider audience, so she opened up her own online shop to share her geeky goodies with the world.

To get her online shop started, Toni registered her domain name, LittleHouseOfCrafting.com, with Dynadot. According to Toni, owning her own domain name was important because, as she says, "regardless of where I go online with my shop, my domain name will always be with me." She told me that "transferability is super important to [her] as an online seller" because, as she says, "my loyal fans will only have one website [name] to remember to find me!"

Since starting her own online shop, her business has grown. Toni's shop features a variety of geeky subjects including products for everyone's favorite Doctor (Doctor Who, one of Toni's favorite TV shows), the boy who lived (Harry Potter, another of Toni's favorites), gaming, science, tea, and more. As a geek, Toni loves to read, play video games, and watch TV shows such as The Big Bang Theory. Her website has allowed her to take inspiration from her many geeky passions and shares these passions with fellow geeks around the world.

Are a fellow geek? Check out Toni's shop to find lots of geeky goodies such as these fun pinback buttons!

Robyn Norgan Happy Potter I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good Mug
This post was written by Robyn Norgan, who is a big Harry Potter fan, as you can tell from the picture. (The mug says "I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good" and changes to "Mischief Managed" when you add a hot drink to it. You can order your own here.)
