Wedding Website Tips:
Go From You to Us with .US
It's wedding season! Getting married is a very fun and special time; however it can also be a very stressful time as you plan your wedding. Not that I want to add one more thing to your long list of wedding to-dos, but these days a wedding website is a must. The first thing you'll need to do to start your website is find the right domain name to represent you as a couple on your journey towards becoming a family. That is why I suggest considering the .US domain, which will take you from "you" to "us" for just $5.99 during our .US sale*!
One thing you may want to consider when searching for the right wedding domain is whether or not you want to continue using your wedding website as a family website after your wedding. If you only need it for your wedding, you can use the word "wedding" in the domain name along with your name or names: AshleyRyanWedding.us, JonesBishopWedding.us, or SmithWedding.us. If you think you may want to continue using your website in the future, you could register a domain such as JasonAndMaggie.us, TheCharneys.us, or even TheChengFamily.us.
Once you've figured out your perfect wedding domain name, there are a few things you should include on your perfect wedding website:
Ceremony and Reception Info: Putting all the details about your wedding in your beautiful invitations can be difficult, so include a link to your wedding website for more information. There you can include maps of your ceremony and reception (include how to get from your ceremony to your reception if they're in different locations), how people are expected to dress for your wedding, and any other details guests need to know. Learn more about how to embed a Google map and a MapQuest map into your website.
Travel Info: Whether your wedding is local or a destination wedding, you likely will have some people traveling to its location. Make it easy for them to find the right accommodations by including valuable travel information on your wedding website. If you've booked a block of rooms at hotel, the hotel may even be able to give you a special link to post on you website for your guests to use.
Your Wedding Registries: Registering for wedding gifts is a great way to ensure that you won't get stuck with a ton of gifts like that horrible vase your aunt got you last year. Make it easy for your guests to see where you've registered by putting direct links to your registries on your wedding website. Although you can also mention where you are registered in your invitations, a direct link from your website means your guests won't have to search for your registry from the store's homepage.
In addition to the important wedding information mentioned above, you should also add some fun and personality to your wedding website - after all, this is a celebration of you as a couple. You can include pictures of you together (especially if you get engagement photos done), your engagement story, fun facts about the two of you, and even the story of how you met. You can also feature your wedding party by putting up fun pictures and bios of the important people that will be standing up with you at the alter.
Now that I've given you some advice on creating your perfect wedding website, let me give you one more piece of advice about your actual wedding day - don't forget to enjoy it! It (hopefully) will only come once, so stop stressing and celebrate!
*Our $5.99 .US sale ends 7/15/13 23:59 UTC. Please note that .US is a restricted domain: you must be a United States citizen, resident, organization, or a foreign entity with a bona fide presence in the United States to register .US.
