- Wisdom Wednesday: Why Buy IDNs?
First things first, let me define my acronym: IDN stands for internationalized domain name. An internationalized domain name is a domain name that contains non-ASCII characters. Basically these are characters not represented by the Latin A-Z alphabet. This can include everything from the Chinese and Arabic alphabets to the French accent grave and the German Umlaut. Since over 70% of the world's Internet users are non-English speakers, IDNs are a huge opportunity to connect with your target audience in their language not just on your website, but also with your domain name. Dynadot was one of the first domain registrars to offer IDNs and we have over 30 domain extensions that support them in a wide variety of languages. Check out our IDN page to see our full list of IDN domain extensions, the languages they support, and to search for your perfect IDN today! Want more wisdom so you can impress your friends? - Sunday Punday: Keep COM & Auto-Renew
This year, make it your New Year's Resolution to keep your domains! The best way to make sure none of your domains expire is to set up auto-renew in your account. As long as your account has a valid payment method, you won't have to worry about a thing! Once you set up auto-renew in your account, you need to select your payment method. You have two choices for payment: credit card or account credit. If you choose credit card, you will need to make sure your card is up to date and not expired otherwise your auto-renew will not go through. You can add a credit card or edit an existing credit card if necessary. For account credit, you need to make sure you have enough account credit to cover the price of your auto-renewals. To add to your account credit, prepay now. Also, if you are prepaying in either Euros or RMB, you need to change your preferred currency to match the currency in your account credit.
