Subject: I Made Stupid Mistake - TYPO in domain name Date Posted: Sep 8, 2008 8:06am

Hi:

This is my fault - I will say that up front.  I made a typo when buying a domain and did not notice it until after I had paid and the domain was setup.

1- Can this domain be cancelled?
2- Can this be corrected without my having to get a new domain?

Let me know one way or the other... again it is my mistake.

Thanks

You can still Grace Delete this domain for Dynadot account credit.  After you do that, you can purchase the correct domain name:

How do I submit a Grace Period Deletion Request?

To submit a Grace Period Deletion Request, please follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Dynadot account.
  2. Look for the "New Domains" box.
  3. Click the checkboxes next to every domain you wish to delete within the grace period.
  4. Click on the "Request Delete for Credit" button to submit your grace period deletion request.

Notes:
- BIZ, UK, and EU domains cannot be deleted for credit.

- There is a $0.20 fee charged for .COM, .NET, .ORG, .INFO, .MOBI, .ASIA, and .NAME grace deletions. This is the fee paid to ICANN. In the past, ICANN used to refund this fee if a domain was grace deleted. Now however, ICANN will no longer refund this fee, so any domains registered in these TLDs will have a $0.20 fee charged when grace deleted. You will receive your registration price minus the $0.20 fee as account credit.

- Further details about grace period deletions can be found on our Grace Deletions page.
