Subject: Advanced Dynadot DNS settings for AdSense for Domains parking? Date Posted: Jan 10, 2009 8:00am PST

I want to try Google's AdSense for Domains on some of my domains and need to change the Advanced Dynadot DNS settings according to the Adsense instructions here.

But I haven't been able to make the required changes, as I have been at other Registrars.

As I understand it, I basically have to change:
1. The CNAME records, so the host name "www" points to pub-xxxxxxxxx.afd.ghs.google.com; and
2. The A records, so there are 4 "@" hosts pointing to 4 IP addresses (216.239.32.21, 216.239.34.21, 216.239.36.21 and 216.239.38.21)

But the Dynadot admin panel is confusing (to me) - what should I enter in the first option under "Advanced Dynadot DNS"?
Domain Record (required) / Domain name / Record Type / IP Address or Target Host

And, what goes in the "Subdomain Records (optional)" settings?

Please be clear and give me exact instructions if you can.

Any other settings I have to change (I see at some Registrars, e.g. Enom, you apparently also have to enable a URL redirect? I did notice that I do not have to manually change the nameservers to Dynadot's, as "Selecting a Dynadot Service automatically sets your domain to use our name servers."

And is a bulk update of the DNS settings possible - I have 37 domains I want to park at Adsense, and doing it one-by-one would be a royal pain. :(

Thanks!

Just a heads-up if anyone else runs into this problem.

I found the solution via the Adsense forums. It is posted here.

Those instructions are accurate and what we typically recommend for customers using AdSense.

Just an update.

This did NOT work - after changing the advanced DNS settings as suggested, and waiting 3 days, the domains were still not working at Adsense. Just 404 server errors.

So I have changed the nameservers and parked the domains somewhere else.

Adsense + Dynadot should really get together and sort this out ... I've never had issues at other registrars parking my domains at Adsense.

Also interested in this.

I have many domains (up to 700) that I want to use with AdSense for Domains.

You'd set up your domains using the steps shown here:

How do I set up my domain to work with Google AdSense?

To set up your domain to work with AdSense, please follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Google AdSense account to get your publisher number, it will look like pub-###.afd.ghs.google.com.
  2. Log into your Dynadot account.
  3. Click on the "Domains" tab at the top of the page.
  4. Check the box next to the domain name and then press the gray "Set Name Servers" button.
  5. Click on the "DNS" tab.
  6. For your first domain record, select "A" as the type and enter the IP address from the AdSense setup guide as the Target Host. You do not need to enter four records as indicated in their guide.
  7. For your first subdomain record, enter "www" as the subdomain, select "CNAME" as the record type and enter your publisher number "pub-###.afd.ghs.google.com" as the Target Host.
  8. Press the gray "Use Dynadot DNS" button to save your changes.

Your settings should look similar to what is shown here.

Please note, it might take some time for your changes to propagate.

''404. That's an error.
The requested URL / was not found on this server. That's all we know. ''

what to do now?

"r_sp_br_1"

Did you get it worked out?  I visited your domains and I didn't get that error message.
