Subject: Disabling main domain access to site on add-on domain Date Posted: Jan 14, 2010 9:00pm PST

Hi, I've created an add-on domain to my main domain with Dynadot hosting.

However, what's happening is the add-on domain site folder on the main domain is being crawled by Google, which could have all sorts of problems.

How do I prevent Google crawling the add-on domain folder on my main site in order to promote the add-on domain only?

To follow-up, is the answer to my question setting up redirect in cPanel?

use robots.txt to prevent crawler from specific directories.

As mentioned by domain_girl, you'd use a robots.txt file to restrict crawling.

Here is a link provided directly from Google (under Technical Guidelines):

Thanks for the info!

Maybe I didn't explain myself clear enough.

I have a main domain abc.com... I've created an add-on domain in Dynadot hosting 123.com. What I've discovered is that this add-on domain is connected to my main domain.

So if I go to abc.com/123.com the site for 123.com will show up. I don't want 123.com to be in any way related to abc.com. I've tried to create a redirect, but this doesn't seem to work at all.

Any idea why the redirect would not be working?

As a paying customer, is there a more appropriate channel to use in order to receive a response?
