Subject: connecting to blogger - a redirect and a CNAME together? |

I have tried to set both the domain and www subhost to point to ghs.google.com CNAME records - does not work. Not sure if this is because blogger does not seem to allow the 'redirect domain.com to www.domain.com' box to be ticked any more ..
Any advice on the correct way to set up blogger with dynadot DNS?
I think we need a CNAME plus a redirect - which is obviously mixing pure DNS with custom hosting ..
thanks |

In Blogger, your custom domain should be "www.domain.com."
After you do that, you'd log into your Dynadot account and your "www" CNAME would point to the host ghs.google.com.
You won't be able to send people to your URL domain.com, but the www.domain.com version of your site should work.
Your settings should look similar to what is shown below.
How do I create a CNAME?
To create a CNAME:
- Log into your Dynadot account.
- Click on the "Domains" tab at the top of the page.
- Check the box next to the domain name and then press the gray "Set Name Servers" button.
- Click on the "DNS" tab.
- For your first domain record, select "Forward" as the type and enter "http://www.yourdomainname.ext" as the Target Host.
- For your first subdomain record, enter "www" as the subdomain, select "CNAME" as the record type and enter the CNAME record given to you.
- Press the gray "Use Dynadot DNS" button.
Your settings should look similar to what is shown here.
Please note, it might take some time for your changes to propagate.
A CNAME may be necessary for your domain to work with the following: Blogger, Blogspot, TypePad, iweb, MobileMe, zenfolio, ning

It is EXTREMELY frustrating to have such issues pointing your domain to Blogger. I hope you guys fix this issue and make it simpler so that we can have both sites http://mydomain.com AND http://www.mydomain.com.
Thanks! - I still recommend Dynadot over "1&1" and "GoDaddy" because of interface. Other than this issue . . . I think you're great. |

b_w_davie_us:
Actually, once you set up your Blogger account, if you go back to your custom domain settings, there should be a checkbox that says "Redirect domain.com to www.domain.com." Once you check that box, both versions of your site should work. |

| Thanks for this information - I was looking all over for this exact topic. I think you might want to add it in the 'help' section for those of us who are just starting out :) |
